The Construction Phase
The World Trade Center Quilt
4-1-03: WTC Quilt containing 117 squares sewn together.
4-2-03: Pentagon Quilt containing 117 squares sewn together.
5-7-03: 50 state squares fused onto the blue field of fabric. Next step is to machine applique around the border of each star. I have 2 of these to complete.
5-14-03: Stripes for the FDNY and NYPD quilts completed. The stripes are skewed because I had to merge 2 pictures together.
6-9-03: Here is the WTC Quilt top sewn together. The approximate measurements are 91" x 160". Below are 3 close-up pics of the quilt top so that stitchers might find their squares more easily.
Here's the WTC Quilt after it was machine quilted. It's hanging in the Red Barn Quilt Shop in Belleview, FL.
Peggy (the owner) is quilting these at a reduced cost for our project.
A closer pic.
And finally, a close-up picture of the quilting.

The FDNY Quilt
3-1-04: Here is the FDNY Quilt top sewn together. Below are 3 close-up pics of the quilt top so that stitchers might find their squares more easily. Also, a close-up pic of the blue area so that you can see the detail.
The Pennsylvania Quilt
7-21-04: Here is the PA/Somerset County Quilt top sewn together. Below are 3 close-up pics of the quilt top so that stitchers might find their squares more easily. The quilt is in the shape of the state of Pennsylvania. Several PA stitchers contributed and their squares have been placed geographically on the quilt according to the city they live in. I stitched the square that signifies Shanksville, where Flight 93 went down. It is outlined in red fabric for easy identification. Next to it is a square with "Let's Roll" stitched on it.
